Alice and Bob in Wonderland
When Evelyn saw these she said:
"Mommy? The next time you go to work can you ask them to make a movie about why I can't pick up puddles? Remember to say please..."

On the afterlife
E: I asked god today if he died and went to outerspace or stayed in the ground. He told me he stayed in the ground.

Trying to figure it all out
E: Where do seeds come from?
A: Plants produce seeds during their life cycle that fall to the earth and grow the next season, or are moved around by bugs and animals and 'planted' in different areas, or harvested by humans to plant in gardens.
E: No...I mean how did the seed get there?
A: It grows inside the plant, just like you grew from a 'seed'.
E: No. You guys aren't listening. How did the FIRST seed get here?
C: Some people think that energy from the sun and water from the planet reacted with some type of matter that started the first living thing that evolved into all the different plants and species we know today.
E: [Irritated stare]
A: These are really big questions Evelyn, and we don't actually have all the answers - I mean, the world doesn't have definate answers.
E: I just can't stop thinking about it. How did seeds get made?
C: A long time ago there was a factory that made one of each kind of seed that started the whole process. We don't need that factory anymore.
E: Oh. OK.

Things that make me realize how dumb I am
There was a time in my life where I actually thought I was pretty smart. How naive of me.

Little Evelyn
When talking with Rob:
E: Well...are you still a kid?
R: Sometimes.
E: Do you have to ride in a car seat?

A Stage Presence
Evelyn had a dance recital on Sunday as a season finale to her Ballet and Irish Dance Lessons. After the first session, I went into 'the green room' to help with her wardrobe change... and heard this:
random little ballerina: what happened to you? where did you go?
E: (looking perplexed and slightly annoyed) I was performing.

Naomi is ONE!
Naomi turned ONE! on 02/21/09. This past year has been quite an experience with many occurances. I haven't been so disciplined as to document everything I would like - but this is life.
I can say that Naomi has quite a unique character that is sure to take her far in life. One thing in particular is her insistency that she actually connects with whomever she is, or is trying to interact with.
Things I don't want to forget about Naomi are:
- the way she initiates interaction - she positions her body in such a way that eye contact is unavoidable and then grants an enormous smile
- the way she gives a great big hug, and then pats you on the back to let you know that she is there
- her love for music and dance
- the way she immediately thrusts her body into a rigid position and starts screaming to communication 'I don't feel like doing that right now'.
- her ABSOLUTE intolerance for footwear of any kind

100 People
100 People Flash Animation Another terrific flash animation! This one shows the statistics of what it would be like if there were only 100 people on earth. This one really makes ya think. |

Naomi
Today, Naomi helped herself to a granola bar from the pantry. She wrestled with the package until she got it open, then proceeded to crunch away at it. At least we know there are no peanut allergies here!
